“Live and let live” and “Take the streets for love”: With colorful banners and loud basses, several thousand people danced through Berlin on the “Train of Love” on Saturday.
The house and techno parade is intended as a demonstration for more social commitment. The organizers want to draw attention to numerous non-profit initiatives.
After starting at Mauerpark, the parade moved through the district of Friedrichshain. In the evening it should end in Kreuzberg. “The mood is great, everyone is chilled,” said a spokesman for the association Zug der Liebe. He expected up to 30,000 participants.
The police spoke of around 9,000 participants in the late afternoon. The dancers were played by 13 trucks, which also promoted various social initiatives – under the demo motto “Make visible”.

“For us, that means giving small social organizations and Berlin associations a large presentation area,” the association explained. Volunteers and their organizations should gain more donors and new members.
“In the seven years that the Love Train has existed, around 50 non-profit associations and organizations have taken part in the demonstrations.” (dpa)
